The importance of Functional Movement Assessments

Why I believe everyone should have a Functional Movement Assessment

About 18 months ago I was noticing slight pain in both shoulders. I had a Functional Movement Assessment (FMS) which pinpointed the “winging” of my scapula as the cause of the problem.

I learned that my shoulder wasn’t functioning normally due to a muscular imbalance. Rather than work with an Exercise Physio or shoulder specialist I made a half-hearted attempt to address this problem myself.

What was the outcome?

Recently I’ve had more pain. The ultrasound showed a high grade tear in one of my rotator cuff muscles.

I saw my Physio who explained that the problem was being caused by my scapula dysfunction because the muscles are not being triggered properly.

Now I’ve cancelled my Krav Maga sport for 3 months and will invest time and money repairing an injury I could have avoided if I had followed through on my FMS assessment results!

The Functional Movement Assessment identifies problems BEFORE they occur – pure prevention!
